FAQ

How do I brew a cup?

One level tablespoon, about 5 g, for every cup. The quick way, as printed on the pouch: cover it with ½ cup of just-boiled water, steep 5 minutes with a lid on, strain, and top with ½ cup of hot milk. For two cups on the stove, simmer 2 level tablespoons in a scant cup of water, add a scant cup of milk and let it rise three times, about 8 minutes. Both are step by step in The Ritual.

How many cups does a tube or pouch make?

30 cups. Every tube and pouch holds 150 g, and a cup takes 5 g, so that is 15 two-cup brews.

Is there sugar in it?

No. The tube and both pouches are tea and spices, nothing else: no sugar, no syrups and no “natural flavor.” Sweeten it to taste, or leave it plain.

Is the chai caffeinated?

Yes. It's Assam black tea, with about the caffeine of a regular cup of black tea and less than coffee.

What if I don't like it?

Love it or your money back. Email us within 30 days and we'll refund you in full, no questions asked.

Shipping & returns

The tea ships free — every tube and every pouch, to any US address. The gift box and the gift set are $9.99 a box. Everything ships within 1–2 business days. The concentrate is paused while we move it to a larger commercial facility.

Our story

Chai Rituals started in our kitchen during lockdown. We grew up drinking chai from roadside stalls in India, brewed strong, well spiced and poured from a height. That cup is what we set out to make: whole-leaf Assam and whole spices, brewed on the stove the way it is actually made at home. The concentrate came later, for mornings when there isn't time to brew. Same tea, same spices.

We're growing slowly, one batch and one conversation at a time. We pack in small batches, pour it ourselves at the markets, and nothing goes in that we wouldn't put in our own cup.

We're a small team in New Jersey. We use whole spices and Assam tea, with no powders or syrups, and you can meet us at the markets and taste the chai we pour ourselves.
